Resident Teacher Job Description

A resident observes and learns on the job in preparation for a teaching career while earning a degree from Sam Houston State University or Lamar University.  For a full school year, the resident works alongside the HT. Residents are actively engaged in as many elements of the classroom as possible from the very beginning of the residency year, which follows the school district calendar from beginning of year to end of year.  The resident will gradually assume greater responsibilities throughout the residency year as they develop as a teacher.
